SYG offers the lowest prices in Australia for Fire Retardant garage door seals. One of the reasons SYG was founded, was in response to the price gouging by local companies supplying cheap imported alternatives, inflating prices and falsely branding them as Australian made. This practice continues today. To our knowledge, none of the major suppliers who switched years ago from the German made Hahl material to the cheaper Chinese imports have ever informed their clients that they were doing so. This is not a dig at China - some of our packaging materials come from there - its related to the quality of the products themselves. We are one of - if not the last - supplier to actually use the German made Hahl material. Our pricing has remained unchanged for over 3 years. However, the cost of raw materials, logistics and labour has continued to escalate to the point where it has become impossible for us to absorb. Consequently, we will unfortunately be implementing a price increase for all orders received as of the 1st July 2021.
Avoid the increase by getting your orders in before Thursday 1st July!
Thank you to all our wonderful customers for your continued support!
]]>After what has been an extremely challenging year, we are incredibly grateful that our business has not only been able to survive but grow by over 160% in the past 12 months thanks to the support of our clients, suppliers and partners. We are acutely aware of how very fortunate we are, as many SME's have had to close their doors - through no fault of their own - but as a result of the measures taken to combat COVID. Rightly or wrongly, whatever actions those in power were going to take, there were going to be negative ramifications and hindsight armchair critiques are seldom helpful. However, there can be little doubt of the devastating and heart-breaking impact that this whole crisis has had on so many families desperately suffering at this time. If any of us know of even one, let's reach out to them. Any support: emotional, financial or otherwise, which might mean very little to us in the broad scheme of things, could mean more to them than we could ever know. Thank you from my family to yours for your generous support throughout 2020 and may God bless and keep you all close in His Love during this Christmas Season and into 2021.

All of us like to save money where we can but we do understand that what you pay for is what you get. When it comes to Garage door seals and especially Fire retardant seals, what should we look for when comparing prices:
Our seals are the best priced Hahl filament Fire Retardant Seals direct to the public in Australia. We will never compromise on quality. No fancy sales, no claims. Just the finest product you can buy.
]]>When you come across products that are just so cool, you have to smile at the ingenuity of the guys / ladies who came up with it. Sometimes the ideas are so off the wall, you have to wonder if there was a Heineken involved around a barbecue
I just love these garage door wraps - check the gallery out here.
Those doors need some seals though.... :-)
]]>Random fact:
Did you know that we Aussies are massive ice-cream eaters? Only the Kiwis and the Yanks eat more ice-cream per capita than we do. Anyway, I digress.
We live in a little town called Wilton, outside Sydney which can get chilly in winter, but a couple of winters ago we did 3 things:
#1. Laid rubber foam tiles on our concrete garage floor, which is sooooo much kinder to your feet when sneaking a late night tub of ice-cream from our garage chest freezer: only doing my bit to beat the Kiwis, of course ;-)
#2. Put compression and rubber seals on all of our external house doors (less than $50 at Bunnings) and
#3. Fitted an SYG full brush seal kit to our garage door which eliminated any cold draughts that used to turn our garage into a fridge in winter. However, this does mean that I am doing #1 more often...
So if you fit an SYG garage door seal kit, and eat ice-cream, you will not only be warmer and happier this winter, but a patriot no less!

As the family grows or your needs change - like 'needing' a man cave, rumpus room or home office, you might consider moving house or (only slightly less traumatic), renovations to add on another room. Full garage conversions are an option but real estate agents will often warn that when it comes to reselling, not having a garage can be a deal breaker. There is a middle ground - and it costs less than you think.
What is the #1 reason you couldn't move into your garage right now? Ok so maybe there's tons of stuff in it, but if you sort and pack that away? Probably dust. Everything just gets covered within days or a few weeks!
Why don't you seal the door? Where rubber seals crack, perish and wear, dense brush seals do not - and they provide a great deal of protection. No more dust, no more cockroaches, mice or snakes. Once the seals are installed (if you're a slow DIY guy like me, max 45 minutes) you virtually have another room on your house!
1. Seal your garage door gaps top and sides with an SYG brush seal kit.
2. Check the bottom rubber seal and replace if necessary
3. If your concrete floor is porous, you can coat it with garage paint, or an epoxy, but personally, I would give it a good scrub and then treat it with a penetrative sealer. Penetrative floor sealers fill up the pores of the floor but don't leave the floor looking any different as such. So if you spill coffee or oil on it, it simply sits on top of the floor until you clean it up. The advantage of a penetrative sealer is that unlike a traditional sealer which wears away due to friction from tyres / foot traffic or moving stuff around, the penetrative sealer is inside the floor and will last for much longer - in a domestic environment, easily 7 to 10 years and there are no visible dull flat spots that show up as they do on a glossy -or even mat exterior coated floor. (We are launching our own commercial-grade floor sealer very soon and will keep you posted.)
4. If your walls are raw concrete or brick, simply prime and seal / paint them as otherwise fugitive concrete dust will constantly make its way into the space
Ok, so maybe $350 only gets you a full seal kit, but even with the rest of the floor sealer and paint, you should still be under $750 for what is now an additional room - probably one of the largest in your home. That's a lot cheaper than moving or building!
Give us a call or check out our products and let us radically change your mind about what is possible for so much less than you ever dreamed possible!
]]>Although we have the most competitively priced fire retardant garage seals on the market, some customers who do not live in bush fire listed areas have asked us if we could supply the cheaper standard seals since they do not require the fire retardant properties. The short answer is sorry, but no. Although bush fires are less likely to directly impact inner city areas, I would not place anything on my house that was flammable if I could possibly avoid it. In a leafy suburb where smouldering leaves might create embers, the last thing any homeowner would want is additional fuel around his garage door - one of the very areas he is trying to protect. Our PA6 rated flame retardant bristles self extinguish and though fire will damage them, they are a first line of defence and will not ignite and allow embers to penetrate and cause further damage. Perhaps as a dad, I just would not be able to live with myself, knowing that a product I had supplied, had failed to protect a child in a house potentially in harms way. I wouldn't put it on my house, so therefore we won't sell it.
]]>Garage door brush seals seal the gaps around the top and sides of your garage doors to keep out dust, pests and embers from bushfires. They mean you have to clean your garage less often and keep dust off any of your valuable items that you store there. They protect your garage from invasion by pests like mice and cockroaches and other nasties like snakes.

A number of years ago, I reorganised my garage, scrubbed the floor right down, coated it, insulated the garage doors and and fitted cupboards. As you can see from the photo, it wasn't a fancy garage, but it was neat and clean. I really wanted to keep it that way and hunted for seals. I tried rubber strips, foam blocks and expansion foam but they either fell apart or came off the walls and looked horrible, so I gave up. I never forgot that quest and when I finally managed to source fire retardant filament - we live in a bush fire prone area - I decided that I had found my calling and SYG was born. This is just the beginning of our story. Whenever it is affordable, I only like buying once, so SYG does not carry cheaper ranges of brush seals. We only supply the top of the range - which is UV Stabilised, PA6 rated fire retardant filaments, broad 25mm bristles (31% wider than normal) and premium extruded aluminium carriers. We offer a 10 year guarantee on our brush seals and we will keep you informed of some new products - we are busy finalising design of a bottom rubber seal with 10 year memory rubber so that we can offer the same warranty on those so watch this space! Thanks for visiting.
